Things that change the result

  • Employees of an employer with fewer than 4 employees are exempt from Alaska's overtime requirements.
  • A voluntary flexible work-hour plan, either in a collective bargaining agreement or approved by the Department of Labor, can replace daily overtime.
  • Overtime is paid on your regular rate, which includes shift differentials and most bonuses. If you earn differentials, use the shift differential calculator to find your overtime rate.
  • Managers and some salaried roles are exempt from overtime. This calculator assumes you are an hourly, non-exempt employee.
